Teresa G. Ficaretta
Teresa Ficaretta became interested in visual art as a music student, first as an undergraduate at the University of Oregon then as a graduate student in Boston in the 1970s. In Boston she spent many hours in the Boston Museum of Art and the Isabella Stewart Gardiner museum, and there she discovered the medium of pastel. She bought her first set of pastels in 1977 and was hooked on the vibrant colors, the ability to draw or paint with them, and the immediacy of the medium. Ms. Ficaretta also works in watercolor and acrylic, but pastel remains her favorite medium.
Ms. Ficaretta began participating in juried shows in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia in 1999, and has had her paintings chosen for juried exhibitions held throughout the Baltimore-Washington area. Her paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States.
